Not good enough: Simon Harris slammed hard over response to coronavirus

The caretaker Minister for Health Simon Harris has taken it in the neck from social media users over the weekend after the first case of coronavirus was confirmed in the Republic of Ireland.

Thankfully the male student is getting the treatment he needs in an isolated unit of a Dublin hospital, but the knock-on effects are lasting with the boy’s secondary school being forced to close and all its students and staff being forced to go into isolation for some 14 days.

People are saying that Harris should have been much more stringent checks at airports and ports, in particular from inbound flights knowingly coming from areas that are badly effected, such as northern Italy where the student flew back from.

Many now feel there could be a widespread outbreak in Ireland, similar to that of other countries, due to the lack of initial response by Simon Harris.
