NPHET recommend Level 5 – Holohan increasingly concerned since he came back to work last Monday

NPHET has recommended that the country gets placed back on lockdown with a Level 5 restriction imposed across the Republic.

Whether or not that will happen is anyone’s guess at the moment but it’s looking increasingly likely that a lockdown of some capacity will be announced over the next day or two.

The Chief Medical Officer Tony Holohan departed government buildings late last evening after relaying major concerns for the country as it moves into the last two months of the year.

Many believe that lockdown part 2 is en route with Level 5 restrictions imposed across the Irish public once more.

The latest figures from the Department of Health confirm 1,276 new Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours.

In an announcement, the Department also confirmed 8 further deaths. It is understood that five of those deaths occurred in October, two in September and one in June.

The latest figures now brings the overall case total to 48,678. Meanwhile the overall death toll stands at 1,849.
