A nursing home manager cried when she revealed that she had to fire six employees for not being vaccinated.
Controversial new rules banning nurses who have not had two Covid strokes went into effect in the UK on Thursday.
Theresa Ingram-Gettins, who runs the Boldmere Court nursing home in Sutton Coldfield, announced that she had also had to suspend six other workers, which put great pressure on other employees.
Speaking to ITV, he said he feared those who left would “fall into poverty.”
‘This home is like a family, we’re all very, very close to each other. I’ve had to put people into possible poverty because I’ve had to take their jobs away from them,’ she said.
Thousands of people across the country have reportedly lost their jobs because they were not vaccinated.
Figures released by NHS England show that more than 56,000 current elderly and youth care home workers have still not been vaccinated.
Several thousand of them are said to have certified themselves medically exempt or applied for a formal examination.
