
More than 60 South African citizens, including nine children, have been deported from Ireland.
The Garda National Immigration Bureau conducted an operation to remove the individuals from the State following deportation orders signed by the Minister for Justice, reports RTE.
A total of 28 men, 26 women and nine minors were taken on a charter flight that departed Dublin yesterday and landed in South Africa this morning.
All of the children were travelling as part of family units, reports RTE.
Ten of those deported had previously been convicted of offences in Ireland.
RTÉ News understands that members of the Oyekanmi family were among those removed, reports RTE.
Last month, approximately 300 people gathered outside the Department of Justice to protest and call for the deportation order issued against Titilayo Oluwakemi Oyekanmi and her three sons to be overturned, reports RTE.
