Off they go: Majority of TDs vote to go off on their six-week long holiday as a matter of priority to avoid a special sitting of the Dáil next week

The majority of TDs have reportedly voted to go off on their six-week long holiday as a matter of priority, thus avoiding having to attend a special sitting of the Dáil next week.

Sinn Fein had called for the Dáil to convene next week to discuss issues relating to the Pandemic Unemployment Payment.

The vast majority of TDs voted against this so they can embark on their holidays immediately.

The Dáil is now not due to reconvene until September 15.
