O’Gorman says if he gets back in government, the Greens will introduce tax on flights for many people and will spend €10 billion on public transport

An effort to get people to “stick with us,” the Green Party is promising to invest €10 billion on public transportation and impose a tax on business class flights, reports Breaking News.

Roderic O’Gorman said that the Green Party had been the “active ingredient” in government and the “driver of change” for the previous four years during the Dublin unveiling of its electoral manifesto.

He added: “The Green Party is the best value vote out there. We punch above our weight. We deliver for climate action, we deliver for communities and for families, and that’s why we’re asking people to stick with us in this election,” reports Breaking News.

Public transport has been viewed as “the poor relation” of Ireland’s transport system, according to the leader of the Green Party and Minister for Children. If his party were to regain power, he added, they would develop a €10 billion multi-year investment program to “transform public transport.”

The party has promised more childcare cost reductions in its platform, with a commitment to make it free for low-income parents and up to €200 per month for other parents, reports Breaking News.

It is also been suggested that maternity, paternity, and parental leave be extended to include the whole first year of a child’s life.

Regarding poverty, the manifesto promises to provide low-income homes at danger of energy poverty with 100% solar panel installation grants, reports Breaking News.

Marc O. Cathasaigh, a candidate for the Green Party in Waterford, was also heard recommending “The Godfather Part II.”

“Over the last four and a half years, we have learnt a huge amount,” Mr. O’Gorman continued. We’ve learnt a great deal about the daily operations of government, reports Breaking News.

When asked about a manifesto plan to impose a tax on private aircraft and business class flights, Mr. O’Gorman stated that they believe it would generate around €105 million.

He stated: “I believe it’s a crucial step in ensuring that the costs of extensive air travel are equal and that we can reinvest a portion of the profits,” reports Breaking News.
