Kathleen Snavely passed away peacefully at a nursing home in New York yesterday, after living for 113 years and 140 days.
Kathleen was born on February 16, 1902, in Feakle, Co. Clare. She left Ireland in 1921 and set up a successful business called Seneca Dairy.
She married twice, but never had children.
Kathleen passed away at a healthcare facility called the Centres at St. Camillus, in Syracuse, New York, where she had been living for a number of years.
Last year, government authorities in Syracuse declared March 17 as “Kathleen Snavely Day”, in honour of one of Syracuse’s most popular residents.
