Nurses assigned to the Oncology/Radiotherapy Ward at Cork University Hospital will commence a work-to-rule action on Wednesday.
The row centers around staffing levels at the department.
Nurses will not perform any clerical duties while the action is ongoing, instead focussing on direct care.
INMO Industrial Relations Officer, Mary Rose Carroll, said: “Our members are extremely concerned about patient safety and are frustrated and disappointed at management’s inadequate response to their legitimate concerns.
“The staffing deficits on the ward are further compounded by the opening of additional beds.
“INMO members wish to highlight their concerns in relation to maintaining their professional registration and believe that working in this difficult environment is having a detrimental effect on their health and well-being.
“They have been left with no other option but to take this course of action.”
