One fatality has been confirmed, and a second person was seriously injured, following a single-vehicle crash on an Irish road.
The incident happened at around 1am on the Ballacolla to Rathdowney Road (L1640), Ballacolla, Co. Laois.
The driver of the car, a male in his 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene. A male passenger in his 30s was treated for serious, but not life-threatening injuries.
