An elderly man in his 70s sadly lost his life in a boating accident last night and nine other people spent up to five hours in the water before being rescued.
The accident happened when their boat capsized in rough waters off the Wexford coast. It is understood they were all on a fishing trip.
Life boats from Fethard-on-Sea and Kilmore Quay rushed to the scene, aided by coast guard units out of Kilmore Quay and Dunmore East.
The elderly man was rushed to University Hospital Waterford, where he was pronounced dead
The other passengers were transferred to Wexford General Hospital.
