According to reports this morning at least one woman has died and several others have been reported missing following an earthquake on the Italian island of Ischia.
Local media sources say the 3.6 magnitude earthquake struck on Monday evening at approximately 9pm local time, which led to major damage being caused to a number of buildings in the area.
They also say rescue teams are frantically searching for people who are thought to be trapped under the rubble.
It is understood that a church collapsed along with about five other buildings in the town of Casamicciola, which is known to be a popular tourist destination.
Although there has been no official casualty toll it is believed one woman has died.
