Opinion: Irish people have lost faith in charities after hearing their bosses get paid hundreds of thousands of euro

Irish people have lost faith in Irish charities and it is hampering their efforts to make collections in the run up to Christmas.

However, Irish people have good reason to have lost faith and being inundated with revelations about the scandalous behaviour of many of those involved in running charities in this country.

So many charities have been exposed as paying their bosses hundreds of thousands of euro, despite the fact that they are ostensibly non-profit.

With so many scandals and seemingly unrepentant charity bosses, can the Irish people be blamed for their scepticism and reluctance to donate.

It is important to remember however, that despite much of the funds going towards things like salaries and expenses people are still being helped and if these charities continue to lose out on donations its likely unfortunately that this loss will be passed onto the people they are supposed to help rather to the bosses of these charities.

When it comes to these charities the Irish people are between a rock and a hard place.
