OPINION: People need to question the possibility that there were government plants at the Dail protest to help push through hate speech law

A peaceful protest that was held outside the Dail yesterday has gone viral, but not for the reasons of the actual protest itself.

The right for peaceful assembly is part of the Irish Constitution.

Gardai indeed have a legal responsibly to facilitate a peaceful protest and peaceful assembly.

The problem with Wednesday’s protest is that it turned from peaceful to somewhat rough, when certain people shouted and loudly heckled politicians and gardai outside the entrance of the Dail.

The question that appears to be going by the wayside is that the vast majority of people at the protest were indeed peaceful with most people today asking who exactly these people that were shouting in politicians’ faces actually were.

No one seems to actually know these people, they seem to have come out of nowhere with many people questioning are these people actually plants for the State to get hate speech legislation enacted without much fanfare.

People need to ask questions rather than take everything at face value. Nothing is beyond limits and Wednesday’s protest is now widespread news. It all just seems a little too coincidental.
