One has to wonder what goes through the Taoiseach Leo Varadkar’s head.
As if the Irish taxpayer hasn’t been smashed innumerable times already over the past number of years, Varadkar’s latest scheme to plunder the taxpayer’s pocket includes the introduction of a carbon tax.
According to Mr. Varadkar, the scheme is “not about raising money” but about “changing behaviour”.
A levy of €20 is currently in place, but that levy is will more than likely inevitably increase significantly over the next few years.
It recently emerged that Ireland is unlikely to meet its environmental targets any time soon.
