In his most recent action against his Democratic rivals, US President Donald Trump has revoked security clearances for former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, former Vice President Kamala Harris, and others, reports RTE.
The Republican president, who also denied former President Joe Biden’s security clearance, beat Ms. Harris in the previous year’s election and Ms. Clinton in the 2016 presidential contest.
Mr. Trump wrote late yesterday night in a message that also listed former Secretary of State Antony Blinken, “I have determined that it is no longer in the national interest for the following individuals to access classified information,” reports RTE.

Even while the revocations might not have an immediate effect, they are another indication of the widening political divide in Washington as Mr. Trump tries to exact retribution on those he believes to be his adversaries.
Hours after Mr. Trump arrived at his golf resort in Bedminster, New Jersey, for the weekend, the memo was released.
Additionally, Mr. Trump targeted Fiona Hill, a Russia specialist who was a member of his National Security Council during his first term, former Biden White House national security adviser Jake Sullivan, and Republican former Representative Liz Cheney, a scathing Trump critic, reports RTE.
Several others had their security credentials withdrawn, including Adam Kinzinger, a former Republican representative and a scathing Trump critic, and Mark Zaid, a national security attorney in Washington who represents whistleblowers.
He had already denied the former president the customary access to US intelligence by rescinding Mr. Biden’s security clearance, reports RTE.
In order to assist current presidents on international and national security matters, former US presidents have historically been provided with intelligence briefings.
When Mr. Trump was a former president in 2021, Mr. Biden terminated his security clearance, reports RTE.
