In a raw and emotional post on X at 19:03 UTC Monday, Ryan Casey expressed profound outrage over an alleged sexual assault on a 10-year-old girl at the Citywest Hotel, a facility housing asylum seekers.
Casey’s tweet, which has since garnered widespread attention, lamented, “What is happening to our country… a 10-year-old child….. Our women and our children are not safe in this country anymore! They simply do not feel safe!!
This is utterly heartbreaking, infuriating and completely unacceptable!! How can they allow this to happen?” The girl, under Tusla care, reportedly went missing before the incident, sparking fury over child protection lapses. Gardaí have arrested a man in his 30s, an African national with a failed asylum claim and a deportation order since March 2024.
Casey’s words resonate with a nation reeling from the tragedy, igniting debates over immigration policies and the €1.3 million profits reaped by private IPAS operators, as reported by RTE. Protests erupted outside the hotel Monday night, with locals echoing Casey’s call for accountability. As investigations continue, his post has become a rallying cry, demanding justice and safety for Ireland’s vulnerable. (Word count: 167)
