One of the Catholic Church’s most outspoken Cardinals, Robert Sarah, has spoken out about the dangers of Islam in the wake of a Muslim terror attack in the French city of Nice which saw three people killed while at prayer in church.
The Guinean cardinal, who some have said may be the Catholic Church’s first African pope, wrote on Twitter that “Islamism is a monstrous fanaticism which must be fought with force and determination.”
He went on to say:
“It will not stop its war. Unfortunately, we Africans know this all too well. The barbarians are always the enemies of peace,”
The common sense, straight talk of Cardinal Sarah stands in stark contrast to the rhetoric of Pope Francis who has adopted a submissive and placating approach to Islam despite the slaughter of Catholics at the hands of Islamists.
