Over 1,100 social homes are stuck in the planning system under Government’s tenure

During the three and a half years that the government has been in office, more than 1,100 social homes have been trapped in the same planning system phase, reports Breaking News.

About 23,600 social dwellings were in the planning pipeline when the government took office in June 2020; their statuses ranged from pre-planning, pre-tender, and final tender report to on-site and completion. However, about 1,150 of these projects had never advanced, reports Breaking News.

Among these are 28 residences on Thomas Davis Street in Cork City that received Stage 3 clearance in the same quarter as 2019, and 52 dwellings in Stranorlar, Donegal, which received Stage 2 approval in the same quarter.

292 of those dwellings have never even reached the “on-site” stage, according to the statistics, as reported by the Irish Examiner.
