The Cabinet have been told that people aged over 16 will be offered a Covid-19 vaccine by the end of September.
It is understood that the National Immunisation Advisory Committee are planning to have the vaccine offered to everyone over the age of 16 before October.
Meanwhile NIAC are also considering the possibility of offering the vaccine to 12 to 15 years olds over the course of Autumn.
It is believed that the recommendations are being made in an effort to tackle the spread of the Delta variant which is now believed to account for 80% of cases.
