Over 3,000 homes without power as Storm Deirdre arrives




Thousands of homes and businesses have been left without power this evening due to high winds caused by Storm Deirdre.

According ESB Networks the vast majority of homes and businesses affected are in Co Cork.

The outages come as high winds with gusts of 135km/h hsve battered the South and West coasts this morning.

Met Éireann have issued two weather warnings as high winds are expected until midnight tonight.

The National forecaster say the worst of the weather will affect counties Cork, Wexford, Waterford, and Donegal.
