Over a thousand protesters hold a sit down protest on O’Connell Street Bridge to highlight the current housing crisis

Over a thousand protesters have turned out to hold a sit down protest in Dublin city centre this afternoon.

The the Take Back The City protest which was organised to highlight the ongoing housing and homeless crisis in the saw a large group of people hold a sit down protest on O’Connell Street Bridge.

Under the eye of an Garda escort protesters made their way from the Garden of Remembrance to O’Connell Street in a show of solidarity against the ongoing crisis.

It is understood the protest was one of many to be held across the country this afternoon.

Those taking part say they hope the protests will not only highlight the ongoing issue but prompt the Government into take the appropriate action to tackle the crisis.
