Over three hundred volunteers worked at the RDS today to serve meals for the disadvantaged and the homeless -no Government representative in sight

Some three hundred volunteers gave up part of their Christmas Day to serve meals to the disadvantaged and the homeless at the RDS in Dublin today.

The event, organised by the Knights of St. Columbanus charity organisation, has been a staple of Christmas since 1924.

More than 450 meals were served, and over 3,000 takeaway meals were prepared to be distributed across 30 different charitable organisations.

No Government representative got up early to attend, or were present during the event.
