Government pledges almost €3m to animal charities this Christmas

There was some good for animal charities as the Government have issued almost €3m in funding for their welfare.

According to Dublin Live, the Government have decided to issue €2.7m in funding in order to assist animal charity groups in order to protect animals all over the country.

Announcing the initiative this week the Minister for Agriculture Michael Creed, said the money will go to 108 organisations across Ireland.

It is understood the funding comes as animal welfare groups have come under strain in recent years as there has been a sharp increase in animal abuse in recent years.

It is hoped that the funding will provide better services for volunteers who work relentlessly to help protect and rehabilitate vulnerable animals.
