Paddy Jackson and Stuart Olding have had their rugby contracts revoked, following an internal review done by the Irish Rugby and Football Union (IRFU) and Ulster Rugby.
The players will be taken off the team roster with immediate effect.
A statement released by the organizations read “Following a review, conducted in the aftermath of recent court proceedings, the Irish Rugby Football Union and Ulster Rugby have revoked the contracts of Patrick Jackson and Stuart Olding with immediate effect.”
Jackson and Olding were unanimously acquitted of their charges of rape following a high-profile nine week-long trial at Belfast Crown Court.
The controversial acquittal decision led to popular protests and allegations of biased treatment due to a perception of privileged social and sporting position.
