Jasmine Rowbottom, a 24-year-old paedophile, who claimed that the 2,000 indecent images of children, including pictures and footage of extreme sexual abuse and torture on her computer, were caused by a virus has been spared any jail time.
Rowbottom, form Dudley, West Midlands, claimed that a computer virus and a faulty USB were to blame for her possession of the images but was found guilty making indecent images and movies of children and possession of extreme pornography.
Wolverhampton Crown Court handed down a 21-month prison sentence for Rowbottom but this was suspended for two years.
Rowbottom, who now lives in Wesham, Lancashire, was also given a two-year supervision order but will only be placed on the sexual harm prevention order for ten years and the sex offenders register for ten years, rather than for life.
This sentence has led to outcry online with many postulating, would she have received such leniency had she been a man.
