The parents of a newborn baby were given a fright they will never forget after they left their new arrival in the back of a taxi following a drive home from the hospital.
According to reports in Germany, the couple from Hamburg were left in a frantic state after they realised that they were missing their latest child once they got inside their home.
The bizarre incident which occurred on Monday, is reportedly treated as a freak accident after police successfully managed to locate the newborn unharmed.
It is believed that the forgetful couple left their baby in the back of the taxi after the child’s father brought the newborn’s elder sibling inside the house.
However without realising that he forgot the new arrival, the taxi driver had already pulled away from the house. Despite running after the taxi the distraught father was unable to catch the driver’s attention.
It is reporteded that the taxi driver who went to a nearby car park for his lunch break was alerted to newborn’s presence in the cab when he picked up another fare.
Police say the surprised taxi driver brought the baby to nearby police station before it was handed back to the relieved and delighted parents.
