Passenger jet makes emergency landing at Shannon Airport

shannon

A charter jet was forced to make an emergency landing at Shannon Airport earlier this evening due to engine failure.

The Boeing 767-200 jet had departed from Shannon a short time earlier, bound for Bangor, US, when the crew declared an emergency. The captain informed air traffic control that he had been forced to shut down one of the aicraft’s two engines due to an oil leak and that he was turning back to land.

The airport’s emergency procedures were activated, and the plane landed safely just after 7pm. All passengers disembarked and were ferried to the terminal while engineers investigated the problem.
