Patrick Quirke is launching appeal for murder conviction of Bobby Ryan the DJ known as Mr Moonlight

50-yr-old Patrick Quirke, who was found guilty of murdering his alleged love-rival Bobby Ryan, the DJ known as “Mr Moonlight” earlier this month is now set to launch an appeal of the verdict.

The farmer denied the charges put in front of him, but the Tipperary man was found guilty of murdering 52-yr-old Mr Ryan.

After a considerably long 15-week trial, the jury finally delivered its verdict after almost 21 hours of closed debate.

Mr Quirke made no reaction to the verdict while Mr Ryan’s family cried in the courtroom.

Mr Ryan vanished on 3 June 2011 after he left his girlfriend Mary Lowry’s farm early in the morning with his body found on the 30th of April 2013.

It’s understood that Mr Quirke’s legal team are gearing up to launch the appeal immediately.
