The Penneys web portal reportedly crashed due to huge demand, with people reporting up to 5h waiting time in a virtual queue to get a shopping appointment through the site.
Penneys outlets will operate a ‘click and collect’ service between May 10 and May 17, the day of official reopening.
A tidal wave of people is expected to descend on Penneys stores nationwide on reopening day.
