People advised to take care as two more road tragedies take place




Two people died in separate road collisions in Co Louth and Co Limerick, reports RTE.

A pedestrian has died following a two-car collision in Castletroy, Co Limerick. The accident between two cars and a pedestrian happened on Dublin Road at around 9.50 pm Friday night.

Gardaí said the driver of one of the vehicles did not remain at the scene.

The pedestrian was taken to University Hospital Limerick, where he was later pronounced dead, reports RTE.

The 40-year-old driver and passenger of the other vehicle were taken to University Hospital Limerick for treatment of injuries which were believed to be non-life threatening.

Limerick Gardaí are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the collision to contact them on 061 212 400 Henry Street Garda Station, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 66-61-11 or any Garda Station.

Elsewhere, a man in his 30s died in a tractor-car collision on the M1 motorway in Co Louth.

The crash happened at around 2am on the northbound M1 motorway between junctions 12 and 14 at Moormont. The person in the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene.

Droghedar gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to contact them.

All road users who were travelling on the M1 motorway between junctions 12 and 14 between 1.30am and 2.10am and who may have footage from cameras (including dash cams) are asked to make it available to police, reports RTE.

146 people have died on Irish roads this year.
