According to the latest figures, RTÉ is facing a final black hole in viewing costs of €20 to €25 million this year, reports Independent.

As of December 10, the country had paid 124.7 million euros in royalties from households this year, almost 27 million euros less than what it had received in all of 2022.

With three weeks to go before the end of the year, RTÉ can hope to reduce that number by a few million before the new year, reports Independent.

The figures were released by Media Minister Catherine Martin in response to a parliamentary question from Sinn Féin Louth TD Imelda Munster, a harsh critic of RTÉ management.

The Minister confirmed that RTÉ received €151,667,840 in license fees for 2022, reports Independent.
