People asked not to dress up as Jeffrey Dahmer for Halloween as eBay removes vile costume from their auction

The eBay bidding site stepped in to crack down on Jeffrey Dahmer-inspired costumes this Halloween.

Monster: Jeffrey Dahmer’s series became the second most viewed English-language show on Netflix last month, surpassing Bridgerton as millions of people got drunk in Ryan Murphy’s series based on the serial killer.

Later, sick fans went on a hunt to disguise themselves as Dahmer, who killed 17 victims between 1978 and 1991, usually by drugging and raping them before mutilating their corpses and eating some of their remains.

An eBay spokesperson confirmed that the company is taking steps to ban Dahmer-inspired costumes with its policy emphasizing that there is no room for “items closely associated with or that benefit violent felons, their acts, or crime scenes within the past 100 years” on its website, reported Mirror.

Many items associated with Dahmer were found on the site, including his unique glasses, blonde wigs, and even a kit similar to what Evan Peters wears on the show.

The mother of one of Dahmer’s victims said she was “outraged” by the costumes inspired by the man who killed her son.

Shirley Hughes, mother of Dahmer’s deaf victim Tony Hughes, accused Netflix of popularizing Dahmer clothes.

“If Netflix hadn’t streamed the show, none of the families would be re-victimised… and then there’d be no Dahmer costumes this year,” she told TMZ.

Murphy and Peters previously insisted that the horror series was meant to tell the stories of the victims.

“We had one rule going into this from Ryan [Murphy] that it would never be told from Dahmer’s point of view,’ Evan said, reported Mirror.

“As an audience, you’re not really sympathising with him. You’re not really getting into his plight, you’re more sort of watching it from the outside,” reports Mirror.

Dahmer was sentenced to life in prison in 1999, but was killed by another prisoner two years later.
