People with chronic pain demand access to medical cannabis

A campaign has been launched to broaden the criteria for the medical use of cannabis, as chronic pain sufferers believe the current regulation is too restrictive.

The Ministry of Health is preparing a review of the Access to Medical Cannabis program.

This program allows a consultant to prescribe medicinal cannabis to people in three specific cases.

This means people with certain variations of multiple sclerosis, intractable nausea and vomiting associated with chemotherapy, and severe treatment-resistant epilepsy can benefit from the drug when prescribed.
