A petition to establish a Queen Elizabeth II Day bank holiday in the UK has reached 100,000 signatures.

The UK currently has just eight bank holidays. France has 11 and Spain 14, for example.

The day of the Queen’s funeral has already been confirmed as a bank holiday going forward.
