Police in New York have confirmed that they have arrested a man in connection with the assault on an elderly woman on a subway train earlier this month.
The arrest comes after footage was uploaded online showing the man kicking the woman in the face as she travelled on the train to the Bronx.
According NBC New York, the man’s arrest was confirmed by Chief of Detectives Dermot F. Shea via Twitter.
It is understood that Chief Shea confirmed that a suspect was in custody and is currently being questioned in relation to the incident.
The arrest comes after the woman sustained serious injuries following the brutal assault which occurred shortly after 3 a.m. on March 10.
Chief Shea also confirmed that the woman has since received treatment following the incident and is recovering well.
