Police in Russia launch investigation after the body of an Irishman is found in St Petersburg




Police in Russia have launched an investigation after the body of an Irishman were found outside an apartment complex in St Petersburg.

According to The Irish Sun newspaper, the remains of the man who has since been identified as 52-year-old Sean Quinn, were found in the Primorsky area in the city on Tuesday.

Police say Mr Quinn who is a finance executive, was found to have sustained injuries that are consistent to that of a fall from a great height.

It is understood that Mr Quinn was staying a hotel which is a hour away from the scene where he was found.

Although no CCTV is available at the apartment block, police say they are currently trying to determine the cause of Mr Quinn’s death and are currently awaiting the results of a post-mortem examination.

Meanwhile the Department of Foreign Affairs have confirmed that they have been made aware of the incident, they added that are providing consular assistance to Mr Quinn’s family.
