Police authorities in Spain have confirmed that a number of Irishmen have been arrested and charged following the seizure of €3.4m worth of drugs.
The arrests come after authorities seized the cannabis in Malaga earlier this month.
It is believed the large quantity of cannabis resin was hidden onboard a truck carrying lettuce that was destined for Ireland.
Police in Spain say thd four Irish men – aged 56, 45, 35 and 33 – along with a 27-year-old a Romanian national were detained on 6 May and have been brought before a Spanish magistrate.
It is expected the men will appear before court later this month.
