A quick-thinking motorist has prevented a potentially deadly attack in the Parisian suburb of Seine-Saint-Denis after he hit a man screaming “Allahu Akbar” and allegedly brandishing a rifle and blade with his car.
The 32-yr-old man was arrested following the incident which took place around 7am on Sunday in the commune of Blanc-Mesnil as several people were leaving a party.
Le Parisien reported witnesses accounts which describe a man screaming “Allah hu Akbar!” and came at them with a knife and rifle before he was quickly hit by a man driving a car, who is said to have acted out of instinct to stop the attack.
The Bobigny prosecutor said “He certainly shouted Allah hu Akbar, but has no disturbing judicial record, and nothing else has been found yet that could suggest radicalisation,” rather the man was found to have a high blood-alcohol level.
