Police in the UK have launched a murder investigation after the body of a six year old girl was found on the grounds of an abandoned hotel on the Isle of Bute on Monday.
It is understood the investigation comes after post-mortem examination results Found that little Alesha McPhail died as the result of foul play.
Officers investigating the case say they are currently carrying out a number of forensic tests in the area of woodland near the hotel, in the hope of finding crucial evidence.
The investigation comes after little Alesha was reported missing from her grandmother’s home in Rothsay on Monday morning at approximatley 6:45am on Monday morning.
Although police initially were treating Alesha’s death as suspicious, they now say a murder investigation has been launched.
They also say they are conducting a number of enquiries in the area and they are urging anyone who may have information to come forward and contact them.
