Police in Brisbane, Australia, have launched a homicide investigation following a crash that killed a mother four young children.
According to news.com.au, the investigation comes after the woman Charmaine Harris McLeod, 35, and her four young children Aaleyn, 6, Matilda, 5, Wyatt, 4 and Zaidok, 2, were killed following a horror crash on the Bunya Highway near Kumbia in Queensland, on Monday.
Police say the family were killed after the vehicle they were traveling in collided head on with a truck.
Although the initial investigation determined that the mother and her young children were killed in an accident, police have since changed the investigation after no skid marks were found at the scene.
Officers investigating the case have also confirmed that a note believed to have been written by Charmaine was found close to the scene of the horrific crash.
Police say they are trying to determine the cause of the crash, but have yet to establish why Mrs McLeod was travelling on the road as it was located three hours from the family home.
Meanwhile Charmaine’s husband also told officers that he couldn’t think of any reason why his ex-wife and his children were travelling on that particular road as there are no family or friends living in that area.
Officers say it will take some time to establish the cause of the crash, but have confirmed that the investigation is now being led by homicide detectives.
