A 101-year-old woman left the retirement home to try to visit her daughter on her birthday, the German police said Tuesday. The police intercepted her after she escaped through an emergency exit in her home in northern Germany.
The police in Braunschweig said they called after the lead entrepreneur went astray in search of his daughter’s house in a suburb. Although he claimed to be living with his daughter, the police suspected the truth. When they brought her home, the daughter explained that her mother had only moved to the old people’s home two weeks ago and that she missed her daughter very much.
Police said the older woman could see her daughter from the security window before taking her home. Germany has been stranded across the country for more than two weeks and public gatherings of more than two people and most businesses and institutions are prohibited.
