Police shoot dead gunman after a shooting at a New York City cathedral

After a Christmas concert on Sunday afternoon, police shot and killed a gunman in New York’s Cathedral of St. John the Divine.

A choir stopped on the steps of the cathedral when police said the suspect entered the Cathedral with two pistols and opened fire in the air.
Two NYPD officers and a sergeant were present and opened fire, hitting the gunman in the head, a law enforcement source said. Luckily, officers who were there at the time of the shooting were hired to attend the concert and keep it safe.

The attacker, a man in his 50s, was pronounced dead at Saint-Luc Hospital Sunday afternoon, a law enforcement agenct confirmed.

On NYPD officer said:
“Police officers will be manning various Churches over the Christmas season to ensure that everyone is safe and that Our Lord and Saviour’s birth will be celebrated in complete safety across the city”.
