Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI has claimed in a 2018 interview with his biographer Peter Seewald, which was only published this year, that society is in the middle of “formulating an anti-Christian creed.”
The former head of the Catholic Church said that those opposing the values of the Church, promoting things like gay marriage and stem cell research are helping to spread the influence of the Antichrist.
“A hundred years ago everyone would have seen it as absurd to talk about homosexual marriage. Today, anyone opposed to it is socially excommunicated,” the Pope said, claiming that in modern, western society, those who defend Christian values face social ostracization.
He Continued:
“The same applies to abortion and making humans in the laboratory,” referring in the latter to Invitro Fertilization.
The 93-year-old former Pontiff concluded saying:
“The fear of this spiritual power of the Antichrist is then only more than natural, and it really needs the help of prayers on the part of an entire diocese and of the Universal Church in order to resist it.”
