There was some positive and encouraging news this afternoon as the Minister for Health Simon Harris has confirmed that the number of people infected with Covid-19 by another person is reducing.
Speaking this afternoon, Harris revealed that the reproductive rate of the virus, has dropped significantly.
According to latest figures the rate that an infected person would spread the virus has fallen from 4.3 to 2.3 people.
The latest figures which have been described as encouraging now means that the spread of the virus has significantly slowed in recent weeks.
However the Health Minister warned that figures must fall to below 1 as it would then mean that it wouldn’t sustain itself in a community.
Harris added that the next seven days are crucial as the current rate is too high.
