The finance minister said energy prices must be reduced further so that consumers can feel the benefits of changes in wholesale energy markets.
Several energy suppliers are reducing their electricity and gas prices today. Nearly two million customers benefit from lower unit prices and base rates.
Michael McGrath welcomed the “pass-through” of some of these reductions, but said the Government would continue to work with energy suppliers as there has been a significant fall in wholesale prices despite some uncertainty and volatility on the stairs.
