Prayer of remembrance to those who we sadly lost this past year

We all know that today, Christmas day, is a time of celebration that usually sees families come together as one, but for some this festive holiday can be a time of reflection especially when it comes to those they sadly lost this year.

Over the past year The Liberal has been reporting some major stories that we hoped you enjoyed.

However, some of our stories have been sadly more heartbreaking in nature as many have tragically lost their lives due to Covid-19 and some have unfortunately lost loved ones due to unforseen circumstances.

In a year that has seen the world been subjected to an awful pandemic and acts of violence we would like to publish the following prayer to honour those who have sadly passed away.

We would also like to pay tribute to the families of those who also tragically lost loved ones in accidental and natural circumstances..

We would also like to offer our thoughts and prayers to those who are currently battling Covid-19 and to thoes who are dealing with long term illness.

The prayer reads as follows:

Christ Jesus,
You understand the pain of loss,
the grief that seems to take
the air from my lungs.
You are the Resurrection
and the Life.
All our hope is in you.

Lord Jesus,
may I find a way through
the darkness
to the light of your love.
You are the Resurrection
and the Life.
All our hope is in you.

Christ Jesus,
you wept at the death of your friend, Lazarus.
Now your compassion wipes the tears from our eyes.
May we find comfort in reaching out to others
who feel lost and alone.
You are the Resurrection and the Life.
All our hope is in you.

The Liberal would like to wish all our readers a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New year, and we offer our deepest condolences to families and friends who tragically lost someone they loved in 2020.
