A weather warning is now in effect for five counties as miserable conditions hit.
The warning is in place for counties Carlow, Kilkenny, Wexford, Wicklow, and Waterford.
According to the national forecaster, heavy rain will fall across many areas in these counties, which might lead to localized flooding.
The warning will expire at 11pm tonight.
