Horrific reports of terrifying wildfires are emerging from Australia with firefighters advising that current weather trends are likely to make conditions even worse.
According to Sky News, the wildfires have affected New South Wales and are now thought to be heading for Sydney and the Blue Mountains.
A “catastrophic” notice has now been issued for the bushfires, which means that they are at the highest level of danger. This is the first time any fires have been given this level of warning since new fire danger ratings came into effect in 2009.
Incredibly, residents in the worst affected areas are said to have been advised to take action now to protect themselves as the fires may be so dangerous by Tuesday that it may not be possible to get help to those most at risk. Tragically people and animals have died as a result of the fires and many more have been injured.
While every fire has not been described as being at emergency level, concerns are growing about the dangers of the coming days and the summer months of December, January and February.
