President Higgins has received another boost as the Fianna Fáil party have pledged their support to the president serving another term in office.
Although President Higgins is yet to formally announce his decision, it is believed that the 77 year old is seeking another term in the Áras.
Following a meeting at Leinster House this evening the Fianna Fáil party overwhelming decided to support President Higgins in his expected bid.
The news of Fianna Fáil’s decision has now left the door wide open for President Higgins to run unopposed this coming October.
