The Irish President Michael D. Higgins has issued his traditional Christmas message, saying that Irish people ‘should welcome all those who come to our shores seeking room at the inn’, according to the Irish Mirror.
The President continued in a rather reflective mood, speaking about Ireland’s own history of emigration and bizarrely, global warming.
The message however just fell short of confirming whether or not he would personally give ‘room at the inn’ at his own home for those who need it.
